Emergency in Pakistan

All the news channels have been shouting their throats hoarse about the emergency in Pakistan aka General Mush's move to save his sorry ass. Looking at Pakistan's tryst with military regimes and failure of its so called democratic governments (courtesy the Bhuttos, the Sharifs, etc), its nothing new or rather nothing unexpected.

But what surprises me is the way Indian young generation has taken this news story so matter of factly. We are born under the umbrella of democracy…and are greedily lapping up the freedom provided to us…without thinking how to preserve it.. We have turned a blind eye to the hardships of emergency/military rule. The most common views being, "Pakistan deserved it". No one deserves an Emergency... no one should be denied his/hers democratic rights. Did India deserve an emergency in 1984?...Certainly not...it was just a modus operandi of the power hungry individuals to hold on to reins of the country. There is no precursor to emergency...no one can decipher the mind of control-freak lunatic.

Can emergency be ever declared in India?...yes...they have done it in the past and can definitely do it in the future. This is what scares me the most. We can't say these things only happen in Pakistan and spend our time sipping on the piping hot cappuccinos at Cafe Coffe Day's discussing the six pack abs of SRK.

We are the new generation...the one who will define the future... and its high time we raise our voice against violation of democratic rights anywhere on the face of this world.
Cause it can happen to us too.....
